Feeders and Drinkers arrangement for day-old-chick

Shown one example of the Feeders and Drinkers arrangement for day-old-chick in tunnel ventilation farm.

This farm was using chick trays and chick feeders for feeding during brooding period of chick stage. Chick trays and feeders were arranged and spread evenly all over the brooding zone for easy accessibility. The ratio of Chick tray plus feeder to poult was about 1 : 80. Poults were more prefer to eat on the trays after poults placement. Only 2 - 3 hours later, more poults moved toward to chick feeder. This maybe because of feed could be seen easily on the tray then in the feeder. Whereas, poults started drinking from both nipple drinkers and chick drinkers as soon as placed in the house. Although nipple drinking system was being used on the 1st day, auto chick drinkers were also added at a ratio of 1 : 100 poult for about 5 - 7 days.  The room temperature in the brooding zone was about 34 - 35^OC. With this optimum environmental condition, poults were basically very active and able to move around and look for food and water after flock placement.
